Froze

There was a boy who once got lost
not quite a child  but still a boy
__

And he then thought   it’s time to play
he didn’t yet know  what’s being stray
__

And being stray  was icy as fuck
and being lost  was not that fun

he thought the streets,  they were a game
he had to win  at any expense

he thought   himself  being so sweet
the ice-cream  had to be for free

he was so blinded  by the lights
he couldn’t see  into his heart
__

But he was glad,  cuz this one day
he felt the cold  going away

He met a girl  who had a fire
she told him  he could stay the night

and then the night  turned into an age
he felt at home  being away
__

But he got scared  cuz what’s the use
of feelings things  you can’t refuse

having to own  not being  a boy
and not being cute,  not being a toy

but being a toy  was just such fun
he’d rather lose  the warmth he had
__

She wished she hadn’t  sung the songs
she wished she hadn’t  played along
__

And the boy left  to dive the streets
didn’t look back  by any means

winter was full  of all those thrills
the flames were never  going to bring

the flames were safe,  oh what a bore
he’d much just rather  have it all
__

When he was sad  he hurt a lot
when he was hungry  then he just stole

even from friends  who once had helped
even from those  he once had held
__

All warmth now gone,  he didn’t see
he was too busy  playing free
__

The boy is old, the stray cats know
he’s this one boy  who once killed love

not quite a child  but still a boy
who played with fire,  who's heart just froze.
